Compared to the native 2011 version, it contains 40% graphite, further modifying the tribological behaviour.
The 2000 series polyimides have a high modulus of elasticity, dimensional stability and hardness, but are characterised by lower moisture absorption, higher toughness and easier machinability compared to the 1000 series.
Polyimides are high-performance plastics (HPM) designed to withstand extreme stresses, with special heat resistance and mechanical properties. Antistatic (ESD) and reinforced (glass fibre, carbon fibre, graphite and/or lubricant such as Teflon composite) versions are available in rod and sheet formats. For certain specific applications, it is possible to find the right variation developed for that purpose. Typically not from stock but can be supplied at short lead times. For certain extreme conditions there is no alternative, which is reflected in their price level. They have excellent machinability with high precision.

Some important features
Valve seats, seals, insulators, other parts subject to mechanical stress at high temperatures. Composites for tribological purposes as self-lubricating material for high-speed sliding, also in vacuum. Electronic industry, various components for glass production. Potential material for engineering developments in the aerospace industry.
Chipping (turning, milling, drilling, sawing): carbide and diamond tools should be used. Cooling is recommended, with cutting speeds as follows: e.g. v = 250-500 m/min for turning and milling, v = 10-30 m/min for drilling.
Gluing: feasible.
