DOCATHERM 600 M is a material based on potassium chalcocite (muscovite) with excellent electrical insulating properties. Durable thermal resistance of 600ºC.
A family of complex insulating materials containing synthetic and mineral materials that are thermoplastic.
The mica-laminated, pressed laminates (mica sheet filled with rock material) available from stock at Quattroplast Ltd. retain most of their strength up to extremely high temperatures (up to 600-1000°C). It is an extremely hard, brittle material which must be taken into account when machining. In terms of heat resistance, it is rivalled only by high-performance and orders of magnitude more expensive polymers (HPM) among thermoplastics.

Some important features
Where good heat resistance and dimensional stability are constantly required in addition to mechanical stresses, and where thermoplastics cannot be used for one reason or another.
Chipping (turning, milling, drilling, sawing): the structure of the materials is often anisotropic, and the pressed layers make machining difficult. The material is anisotropic due to the anisotropic nature of the material. Great care and precision is required, otherwise it can easily break or even delaminate.
