product family features

Polypropylene is one of the most widely used plastics in industry. Its chemical resistance is outstanding and it is a highly versatile material family. Its low specific weight, economical price, and machinability make it popular for applications with low mechanical stresses, where there is no significant abrasion or slippage. It is also available in flame retardant, medical, electrically conductive (ELS) and glass fibre (GF or GF30). We also supply in sheet, rod and tube formats.

DOCAPREN GF30

Some important features

  • Flow limit: min. 30 MPa, modulus of elasticity: min. 1300 MPa
  • Hardness: 70 MPa (ball indentation, H961/30)
  • Chemically resistant, weatherproof
  • Good weldability
  • Application temperature range: -20°C/+90°C
  • At low temperatures, below -10°C, the material's brittleness reduces its impact strength, making it brittle
  • The base stone has good electrical insulation properties even in wet media
  • Good machinability

Main areas of application

  • Machine parts subject to minor mechanical stress, such as bearings, gears
  • Elements for material handling systems and chutes subject to minor abrasion
  • Artificial coverings, general coverings
  • Chemical tanks, storage vessels
  • Electrolytic tanks, components
  • Electrical insulating components
  • Amusement and advertising equipment and devices

Machining technology

Chipping (turning, milling, drilling, sawing): conventional metal and in some cases woodworking tools - carbon steel, high speed steel, carbide, diamond - can only be used with a sharp finish.Cooling is recommended to allow high cutting speeds e.g. v= 200-400 m/min for turning and milling, v= 50-100 m/min for drilling.

Gluing: difficult to stick.

Welding, shaping: is feasible.

Available formats

  • polypropylene sheet
  • polypropylene rods
