DOCAPEI GF30 has the properties of natural PEI with the added benefit of greater dimensional stability due to the fibreglass reinforcement.
The excellent chemical resistance and good insulating properties of PEI, or polyetherimide, make it an important choice where mechanical strength or heat resistance may also be required (albeit at a lower level than PEEK, for example). It is also known as Ultem. Available in sheet and rod formats. In addition to the standard amber colour, black and blue are also available in certain sizes. The glass fibre reinforced version (glass fibre PEI, PEI GF or GF30) also meets higher mechanical demands, although it is available in a smaller range of sizes than the basic version.

Some important features
Machine components and sub-assemblies, especially in the food industry and medicine, which need to be cleaned and sterilised frequently.
Chipping (turning, milling, drilling, sawing): conventional tools can be used, but only with a sharp finish. Cooling is recommended, with cutting speeds of v = 200-400 m/min for turning and milling, v = 50-100 m/min for drilling.
Gluing: is feasible (but more difficult than PVDF with similar properties).
