DOCAÉSZTER VIVAK UV clear is a version of the plain VIVAK sheet with double-sided UV protection for outdoor applications.

DOCAESTER (polyester) product family features

Polyesters include PET-G (or PETG), from which sheets known as VIVAK are made. It is a technically and economically optimal transition between PMMA and PC materials. It eliminates the disadvantages of Plexiglas (PMMA). It is extremely tough, more malleable and mouldable than polycarbonate (PC). It is also suitable for safety glazing. It can also be used in the food industry. Sheets are available in thicknesses between 0.6-12 mm.

Strength: 45-50 MPa (yield strength, tensile strength)
High toughness, very good impact resistance even at low temperatures: no breakage
Physiologically neutral, may come into contact with food and medicines
Good machinability
Hardness (Rockwell: R 104 - R 107)

Main areas of application

Food contact parts; medical, pharmaceutical equipment; safety glazing, cladding; architectural materials; advertising boxes; bus shelters; insulating elements, etc.

Machining technology

Chipping (turning, milling, drilling, sawing): traditional metalworking tools, in some cases woodworking tools - carbon steel, high-speed steel, carbide, diamond - can be used, but only with a sharp finish. Cooling is recommended to allow high cutting speeds, e.g. v = 200-400 m/min for turning and milling, v = 50-100 m/min for drilling.

Gluing and shaping: feasible.
