The effect of time on the mechanical properties of polymers
The article briefly discusses the effect of time on the mechanical properties of polymers. When testing the load carrying capacity, the response of the material changes continuously after the measurement time has elapsed. Under constant load this can be observed as deformation, creep or cold flow, or as a decrease in the stress required to maintain deformation (stress relaxation).
