Turkey's plastics sector weathered 2020 relatively safely, but plastics processing capacity utilisation declined. Most of the plastic products produced are used in the packaging and construction industries, while the automotive sector has seen a significant decline due to a drop in automotive production. As a lack of polymer products and raw materials is hampering the development of the Turkish plastics industry, it will need to import more in 2020 than in previous years. With the integrated petrochemicals investment in Petkin, the country's import dependency has been reduced. Demand for new processing machinery in 2020 has increased significantly compared to previous years.
