One of the main themes of the 2019 Düsseldorf Plastics Show was the circular economy, with the first objective of reintroducing used plastics back into the manufacturing process. It turned out that both manufacturers of devices that make waste recyclable and users of materials recovered from waste have already done a lot to make this objective a reality. Recycling is a little easier when waste from a processing workshop needs to be recycled back into production, where it is usually sufficient to shred the rejects and re-granulate them in an extruder after careful filtration of the effluent. It is more complicated to sort, clean and recycle the various plastics from household waste into valuable raw materials. In what follows, we highlight some of the new tools presented at K19 (and some other events).
