Environmental factors cause microcracks to form in stressed plastics, which, in the presence of certain chemicals, accelerate strongly and, in a short time lead to product breakage in a short time. This phenomenon is based on physical processes and does not involve degradation of the material. The following is a description of the mechanism of the process, some test and some of the experiments that have been carried out to investigate stress cracking are described. the results of stress-strain testing to estimate the lifetime of a plastic product.
