Lignin is a bulk natural polymer, i.e. a renewable source of raw material, which can be used in the plastics industry by compounding it with polylactic acid. Another development focuses on thermoplastics compounded with high amounts of state-change additives, which can be used to great advantage in various applications requiring heat and cooling energy storage.
