The recent significant increase in computing capacity has made it possible to link product and tool design CAD and CAM programs with each other and with various simulation programs, databases of material properties and standard tooling elements, and to complement these with automatic design debugging and repair programs. Such systems are now available not only for injection moulding, but also for other plastics processing technologies. Virtual prototyping and testing significantly reduces product development costs and time-to-market.
