Attempts to facilitate the processing of metallocene polyethylene

Polyethylenes produced with metallocene catalysts have excellent properties but are more difficult to process than conventional types. These disadvantages are overcome by incorporating long side chains - by developing new catalysts, by changing the conditions of polymerisation - and by adapting the processing to the rheological properties of the polymer. In the following, an idea implemented on a foil blower setup and an additive to aid processing are presented.
