Overview of the history of plastics Part 2. Large-scale plastics production

Plastics are an integral part of our lives. Where did their history begin? Why and how did they become
indispensable? What new advantages and disadvantages have resulted from the increasing
from their spread? There are many types of plastic, a full review would be very lengthy, so
we will only present the main trends. We will start from the beginning in a thread of historicity,
to give you an insight into the five generations of plastics, through interesting events
about plastics, highlighting some of the interesting features of their groups. The article is also a tribute to Macskásy
Hugó and Lóránt Balázs. The second part is dedicated to the period between the two world wars, but mainly to the second
deals with the events after the Second World War and the emergence of large-scale plastics production.

Overview of the history of plastics Part 1. The beginnings

from their spread? There are many types of plastic, a full review would be very lengthy, so
we will only present the main trends. We will start from the beginning in a thread of historicity,

Production of impact resistant poly(ethylene terephthalate) from waste

Significant volumes and varying qualities of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) from
- even significantly degraded - waste (selective household waste, industrial waste, or
even surface/marine waste) is a major challenge today. Recycling
usually involves a significant brittleness of the material, which limits its
the potential uses of. Production of plastics with beneficial properties from recycled PET
is therefore a particularly important and timely objective, and its implementation is further encouraged by the increasingly
tightening legislation and the rising cost of original polymer raw materials.

Surface characteristics and lifetime load intensity of fibre reinforced hybrid composite dry friction clutch linings

The characteristics, load response and lifetime behaviour of modern hybrid composite clutch friction materials still raise unanswered questions, which are addressed by building appropriate models. The characteristic response of the friction insert as a system to lifetime loads is the change in wear (thickness reduction) and surface roughness, which can be used to infer the remaining service life based on the intensity of the stress and the fulfilment of the life-time compliance criteria.

Processing stabilisation of polyethylene with natural antioxidants

The aim of my research is to investigate the stabilising efficacy of natural antioxidants, which are flavonoids, under polyethylene (PE) processing conditions. In the present study, the efficacy of the flavonoid quercetin (K) and the flavonolignan silymarin (Sz) was compared. One of the natural antioxidants was added to the additive-free polymer powder as a primary stabilizer at a concentration of 0-500 ppm, and a mixture of Sandostab PEPQ compounds at 1000 ppm was used as a secondary stabilizer. The powder mixture was processed by six-step degradative extrusion, and the resulting samples were subjected to functional group analysis, flow index and thermooxidative stability measurements, and colour change characterisation.

Abrasive wear testing of composite materials using a pin-on-plate tribometer

Agricultural machinery parts show considerable wear and tear. This wear is caused by friction with plants and soil particles and results in significant material damage. Nowadays, polymer matrix composites play a major role in the replacement of certain fast-wearing steel components due to the excellent properties of these materials. Replacement of steel machine components can increase the life of the structure not only from a wear point of view, but also because polymer matrix composite materials are more corrosion resistant and lighter. This research investigates five potential composite materials for replacing steels from an abrasion wear resistance point of view.
